Bench Construction

Let your creativity flow and build your own bench, purchase one of ours, or connect with a trades person to assist. Whichever outcome, we are here to assist and are excited for your wood fired oven journey.

Building a Bench for Your Wood Fired Oven

A well-constructed bench is essential for safely housing your wood-fired oven, providing stability, and ensuring optimal cooking performance.

  • Stainless Steel / Steel Trolleys

We have stainless steel trolleys for each of our stainless steel ovens, as well as stainless steel trolleys for our Etna, Pizzaioli and Pietra ovens. You can purchase one at the same time as purchasing your oven. For the Sovoro ovens and if our traditional trolleys are not in stock, you can contact your local steel fabricator to discuss them building a trolley stand for you.

  • Pre-Built Concrete Benches

For convenience, we can deliver directly to your home. The residential delivery service delivers your oven to your driveway, garage or shed, it does not include installation. Some residential properties are not suitable for our trucks or delivery service, in these cases a depot collect will be provided.

  • DIY Bench Construction

If you have grand plans and are building your own bench, here are some tips:

Your footings and ground need to be flat, smooth and strong to support your bench and oven. A 100mm concrete slab with footings is recommended.

Your construction and materials used need to withstand the weight of the oven and the environment you are building in, for years to come.

    • Base Materials: Use materials such as concrete blocks, besser blocks, bricks, concrete, timber, stone. If using besser block we recomend the Adbri Masonry Interlocking besser blocks or concrete blocks, put in place and filled with reinforced steel and concrete. Our traditional and Sovoro ovens are built on a concrete reinforced slab, if your base is structural and supporting your oven with 3 walls (2 sides and the rear) then your oven can be placed directly on top of your base. (Assuming it is constructed correctly)
    • Bench/ Slab:  A reinforced concrete slab or suspended slab can be built on top of your base for the oven to sit on.
    • Dimensions: Dimensions change depending on your design and size of oven. You need to ensure that the footprint of the oven has structural supports underneath it.
    • Height: Most customers select a working bench height of 870mm - 1100mm. Factor in your height and the working height of your oven.

Note: This information is general. For professional advice and direction contact a trades professional (carpenter, qualified landscaper, brick layer) in your area.
